The Vision of IDMI

The vision of IDMI is to help people, young and old, in today's culture understand that their true identity and real purpose is only found in Christ.

Identity

The world tells us we are the sum of our accomplishments, saying "what you do determines who you are".  This is not true.  At IDMI, we teach true identity is not defined by what we do, what we have, or where we’ve been.  Our true identity is found in Christ.  Our true identity is determined by what He has done, what He has, and where He has been for us.

And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. Col 2:10 AMP

We are told in 2 Cor 5:17 that anyone in Christ has become a "New Creation".  Our old identity has passed away and we have become new.  Our new identity in Christ is the sum of what He has done for us.  He has made us "righteous, saints, holy ones, children of God, etc".  Our focus should be on the Word of God, and who it says we are.

Real Purpose

The real purpose of anything is best defined by its creator.  To find our real purpose in life we need to go to our creator.  In Psalms 139:13-18 we read how God knows everything about us.  He knew every detail of our lives before we were born.  Everything we could ever achieve in life was placed in us by Him.  He is our true source and the revealer of our real purpose.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11 NIV

1 Cor 2:9-12 tells us what God has prepared for us is revealed to us by His Spirit.  As we walk with God, His plans and purposes for our lives become clear.  The purpose of a fruit tree is to bear fruit.  As long as the tree has a healthy root system,  producing fruit is natural and effortless.  Bearing "fruit" will be natural and effortless for us, if we are "Abiding in the Vine". Finding and fulfilling our true purpose comes only by relying on Christ.

Mike Nelson

Who is Mike Nelson? God touched his life in 1982 at a Phil Keaggy concert.  As a junior in high school, he couldn’t describe what had taken place, but he knew God had put a burning in his heart.  Looking back, he now recognizes the burning was God calling him into ministry.  From that point on, his only passion has been to work with teenagers.  Helping young people understand who they are in Christ, and discover His calling for their life, is what he lives for.  He believes "Today's youth need to hear what is right with them, instead of what is wrong with them."  His passion for teenagers is preceded only by that of being a husband and father to his lovely wife and children.  He is blessed to be able to do both. .

Christy Nelson

Who is Christy Nelson? Christy has always enjoyed helping at her church.  She started young, helping in children’s ministry, and ministering on the youth praise and worship team.  Her youth pastor gave her opportunities to do the work of the ministry, drawing out the things God had placed in her.  It has always been “easy” for her to work with teenagers.  She loves their enthusiasm and potential.  She believes in them and wants to encourage them to follow after God.  She believes God is already big in them and wants them to operate in their gifts and callings now, not just when they “grow up”.  She is blessed to be a full-time stay-at-home mom to their two wonderful daughters and be available to minister beside Mike as they travel.
